You remove the trays for meals, brushing, and flossing. Your treatment plan will set out when to change trays, how long to wear them, and when to return for progress checks. The number of trays and overall treatment time depend on your individual case.

How long does clear aligner treatment take?
Most cases finish in about six to eighteen months, depending on how much movement your smile needs. Minor spacing or crowding can go quickly, while more involved cases take a little longer. At your consultation we give you a personalized timeline based on your digital scan.
Are clear aligners painful?
Clear aligners are gentle by design. You may feel mild pressure or tightness for a day or two when you switch to a new set of trays — that simply means they are working. Because there are no brackets or wires, there is far less irritation than with traditional braces.
How many hours a day do I wear them?
For the best results, plan to wear your aligners about 20 to 22 hours a day, taking them out only to eat, drink anything other than water, brush, and floss. The more consistently you wear them, the more predictable and on-schedule your results will be.
Will I need a retainer after?
Yes. Once your teeth reach their final position, a retainer holds your new smile in place so it does not gradually shift back. We will fit you with a custom retainer and explain exactly how and when to wear it to protect your results for the long term.
